Today we welcomed a talented juggler Mr Math Weeney to our school who introduced the children to the art of juggling. While learning new tricks and techniques, pupils developed their hand-eye coordination, concentration, balance and fine motor skills.The session also encouraged creativity, problem-solving and perseverance. The children quickly discovered that learning a new skill involves making mistakes, trying again and celebrating small successes along the way. It was wonderful to see pupils embracing challenges, thinking creatively and supporting one another as they practised.He linked the activity to Maths by recording and graphing our juggling results, allowing pupils to collect, analyse and interpret data from a real-life learning experience.We are already looking forward to welcoming our juggler back again next week!A huge thank you also to the firemen from Ballyconnell Fire Station who visited the Middle Room and delivered an engaging fire safety workshop. As we come to the end of the month of May, we gathered together to celebrate Mary and spend time in prayer at our beautiful May Altar. May is a special month dedicated to Mary, and we reflected on her kindness, care and love as we offered our prayers.We also took time to appreciate the signs of new life all around us. Our caterpillars have continued their amazing journey and there is great excitement in the school as we eagerly await the arrival of our butterflies. A big thank you to Martins Coaches Cavan for kindly sponsoring our 6th Class Graduation Hoodies.For many of our pupils, Martin’s Coaches has been part of their school journey for years. From travelling to and from school each day, to exciting school tours, swimming trips and sporting events, the bus has been the backdrop to countless memories, friendships and conversations. We enjoyed a wonderful trip to Killyconny Bog Project where pupils explored the unique flora and fauna of this special habitat and learned about the importance of protecting our boglands. Along the way we discovered fascinating insects including a striking burying beetle and a beautiful metallic green tiger beetle. We were also delighted to watch skylarks soaring overhead across the bog.A sincere thank you to the volunteers who shared their knowledge and passion for this unique environment with us and helped make the visit such an enjoyable and educational experience.A huge thank you also to Sally-Ann Duffywho has completed a fantastic six-week residency with us, helping to bring our creative space to life through nature, creativity and exploration.
