There was a lot of spooky business going on in the school at Halloween. The senior room had a pumpkin carving competition and we all dressed up scary creatures! Even the teachers got in on the act!
The pupils entertained the guests with a variety of songs and dances. We also tried out some Halloween activities such as 'ducking for apples' and 'pin the boo on the ghost'! Thanks to the Parents' Association for organising the guessing competition and prize and to Marie for providing a lovely treat of goujons and chips for the pupils on the day. Our boys' team got to the final of the Cumann na mBunscol football competition this year. We beat Swanlinbar and Greaghrahan in the group stages. After a tough match, we overcame Corliss/Coronea in the Semi-Final to reach the final against Kill.
The boys started well, getting ahead with some early scores. Despite a brave comback, Kill were unable to pull us back and the boys held out for victory. Well done to the boys on a great achievement - may it be the first of many medals! Sean Doherty visited us for the last time to coach the skills of GAA to us. Sean has visited us for the last eight years and we always loved to see him arriving. We are sad to see him go, but we wish Sean well in his new position.
The junior room dug up the potatoes which they had planted earlier in the year. Then they washed them and cooked them for us all to try. Yummy! The pupils in St. Patrick's don't mind getting down and dirty!
